Artists in Residence

Introduction

Yishay Garbasz, England

Throughout her career, Garbasz has worked with themes of memory, history, separation, and healing, spanning works exploring her mother’s experiences as a Jewish Holocaust survivor and Garbasz’s own personal journey involving gender identity. Garbasz has continually captured both the pain of trauma and the beauty of reconciling with it. Physical locations, such as Fukushima, and the inextricable link to the events that take place in them, also loom large in Garbasz’s practice.
