Artist Lee In-sung (1912-1950)
was a star produced by the Joseon Art Exhibition
during the Japanese occupation,
and was also at the center of controversy
in the Joseon local color debate.

Kaiyu (1932), painted with watercolors,
a typical technique of the Daegu art scene
at the time, is one of his rare early works.
