Art Bank established in February 2005 is an art support and access initiative, providing additional art rental and sales as well as exhibition opportunities. Its primary goal is to develop cultural and artistic productions, facilitate local art market, and uphold the right to art appreciation.

In order to ensure a wider access to art by the general public, artworks purchased by Art Bank are to be rented to or exhibited at government and private sector offices and culture and art institutions. In addition to that, some artworks are exhibited at diplomatic mission offices to expand Korea’s modern and contemporary art to the rest of the world.
Art Bank collection includes more than 4,000 artworks in Korean traditional painting, Korean literati painting, calligraphy, Western painting, sculpture, craft, prints, new media and installation, and photography accessible at its website (www.artbank.go.kr).

Government Art Bank established in October 2012 is a government-driven initiative, ensuring efficient management of artworks that used to be scattered across government offices while upholding the right to art appreciation. Under the annual procurement plan, it purchases excellent artworks that are to be rented to or exhibited at government offices and diplomatic mission offices.

These artworks transform government and public agency offices into a cultural space, allowing the general public to appreciate art in their everyday lives. In addition, some artworks are exhibited at diplomatic mission offices to promote Korea’s modern and contemporary art in the world. Government Art Bank collection includes more than 2,500 artworks in Korean traditional painting, Korean literati painting, calligraphy, Western painting, sculpture, craft, prints, new media and installation, and photography accessible at its website (www.artbank.go.kr).
