MMCA Collection Loans

MMCA provides guidance on the loan procedures and regulations for institutions wishing to loan object.

Regulations

Loan Requests

    -  Eligibility to submit loan applications

  • ·  Government institutions, public organizations, or registered museums for public exhibition

    ·  Artist or artist’s heir for public exhibition

    ※  It may not be loaned to exhibitions with commercial purposes
    • -  Documents to submit  :  Loan application, exhibition plan, report on facilities of the exhibition venue

    -  Submitting applications  :  The organization wishing to loan object shall submit an official letter to the MMCA, attaching the necessary documents

    -  Submit applications by  :  No later than 90 days (for exhibitions in Korea) or 180 days (exhibitions abroad) before the date on which the requesting organization wishes to receive the object

Loan Review

  • The Collection and Archive Department of the MMCA reviews applications for loan year-round. The following matters are reviewed in loan committee to determine whether or not to allow the loan of the requested objects. Once a decision is reached, the applicant will be notified of the results within 14 days.
    • -  Matters reviewed

  • ·  Whether or not the purpose of exhibition is in the public interest

    ·  Condition of the object requested for loan

    ·  Suitability of the exhibition environment where the loaned object will be shown

    ·  Validity of insurance value of object requested for loan

    ·  Whether or not the exhibition will contribute to the promotion of arts and culture

    • -  Notice of loan application review results

  • ·  List of object approved for loan

    ·  Insurance value of the object to be loaned

    ·  Other conditions, etc. applying to the loan

Loan-Related Costs

  • -  All costs incurred when loaning, including packaging, transport, and insurance, shall be borne by the organization requesting the loan.
