This exhibition traces the evolution of graphic design following the introduction of horizontal Hangul writing in the fields of printing and publishing in the 1970s. It reconstructs, period by period, the practices of designers who have investigated the relationship between text and image amid the transition from analog to digital environments. The exhibition moves from the resurgence of phototypesetting and offset printing technologies in the 1970s–80s, through the transitional phase of graphic tools and web environments in the 1980s–90s, to present-day experimental practices that traverse the material and the immaterial. By examining the dynamic relationship between technological development and visual culture within the flow of graphic design practice, the exhibition seeks to expand the horizons of Korean art.
