The National Museum of
Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) is pleased to hold the second final
exhibition, 《Across the
Universe》, from November 19th to December 6th, 2015, at
MMCA Residency Changdong.
Along with MMCA Residency
Goyang, MMCA Residency Changdong is run by the National Museum of Modern and
Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA). MMCA Residency Changdong has supported
practicing artists to broaden the horizon of their art practice with various
residency programs. International Artists Residency Program provides many
international artists opportunities to experience the contemporary art scenes
in Korea during their residency. Celebrating the anniversaries of diplomatic
relations between South Korea and France, the Czech Republic, and Egypt this
year, MMCA Residency Changdong has invited leading local artists of the country
through the International Artists Fellowship Program.
Serving as a metaphor of the
mutual interactions between each artist's art world, the exhibition 《Across the Universe》
features works by eight artists - Stefan
Tiefengraber, Josef Bares, Quynh Dong, Doa Aly, Eléonore Saintagnan, Olivier
Sévère, Hiroko Okada, and Hikaru Fujii, who have participated in
the international exchange residency programs at MMCA Residency Changdong
during the second half of 2015. Works of art with different genres, including
drawing, video, and installation will be presented. On the opening day,
resident artists and project teams will open their studios to share their art
practice with visitors and there will be a variety of opening performances
along with the opening ceremony.
