Welcome visitors. Thank you for visiting to the special exhibition MMCA Lee Kun-hee Collection: Monet, Picasso, and the Masters of the Belle Epoque at MMCA Gwacheon. This Exhibition introduces seven paintings by Camille Pissarro, Claude Monet, Joan Miró, Marc Chagall, Paul Gauguin, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Salvador Dalí together with ninety ceramic works by Pablo Picasso from the Lee Kun-hee collection donated to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) in 2021.
These artists were all great masters who came together in the art hub of Paris as mentors and mentees, older and younger artists, and colleagues. They supported each other’s growth and greatly advanced the development of Western art in the twentieth century.
This exhibition is designed to expand the appreciation of the works of these eight masters by focusing on the diverse relationships they fostered in Paris. Moreover, it intends to explore both the correlations between the paintings and their links to Picasso’s ceramics. The exhibition invites visitors to experience these beautiful moments of friendship and mutual respect that took place in Paris.
