[Exhibition Overview]
This large-scale international photography exhibition comprises over 300 works, adopting different angles to examine collective human life in the society of the 21st century. A collaboration between MMCA and the Foundation for the Exhibition of Photography, with curators William A. Ewing and Holly Roussell, the exhibition will first be presented at MMCA then to the world as it travels through several different countries. Through the overseas tour and international production of an accompanying book, Korean artists such as Noh Suntag, Jung Yeondoo, Jo Choonman, KDK, Kim Taedong, Han Sungpil and Che Onejoon will also be properly introduced outside Korea.
[Structure of the exhibition]
The exhibition is conceived as a journey through key aspects of civilization, via eight parts: HIVE, which features photographs having to do with the places we live; ALONETOGETHER which looks at social relationships; FLOW, which take as its subject the movement of peoples, good and ideas; PERSUASION, which looks at the mechanisms which we use to persuade others; CONTROL, which has to do with authority and power; RUPTURE, which looks at societal breakdown and conflict; ESCAPE, which shows people at leisure; and NEXT, which looks at the new world taking shape in the 21stCentury.
