The announcement of Hyung-Min Chung, as the 18th director of NMOCA

 

The National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea(NMOCA) announced Hyung-Min Chung, professor of art history in the department of Oriental Painting at Seoul National University, as the director of NMOCA on January 20, 2012, for a term of two years.


The newly-appointed director served as director of Arts Gallery at Seoul Arts Center and as the chairperson of the Korean Society of Art Theories. Since 2006, she has been as the director of the Museum of Art Seoul National University.


Upon her appointment, director Chung said, “I will do my best to prepare a successful opening of the UUL National Art Museum, Seoul and to make it a world-class museum. I will try to incorporate all the ideas from various sectors of Korean art and culture, so that Korean artists can gain recognition globally.”
