The MMCA Residency, run by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA), is pleased to announce the call for applications for the International Artist/Researcher Residency Program 2026.
This program offers opportunities for creative exchange with leading art professionals and participation in various residency activities, including exhibitions, open studios, and cultural events, all within a supportive environment.
● Residency Venue: MMCA Residency Changdong
(257 Deongneung-ro, Dobong-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea)
● Application Period: Monday, 15 September - Friday, 26 September, 2025
● Programs Offered
1) International Artist Residency Program 2026
2) International Researcher Residency Program 2026
Please note: Applicants may only apply to one program. Dual applications will not be accepted.
1) International Artist Residency Program 2026
- Residency Period: 10 weeks
- Discipline: Visual Arts
- Number of Participants: 1 artist for each term/3 artists in total
- Support Provided:
· Live-in-studio with private room
· Monthly grant of 1,200,000 KRW (approx. 870 USD), total 3,600,000 KRW for the entire residency period
2) International Researcher Residency Program 2026
- Residency Period: 10 weeks
- Research Focus: Modern and Contemporary Asian Art
- Number of Participants: 4 researchers in total
- Support Provided:
· Live-in-studio with private room
· Monthly grant of 1,200,000 KRW (approx. 870 USD), total 3,600,000 KRW for the entire residency period
